Art Deco Velvet Shawl - Lyon Circa 1980
Circa 1980 France - Lyon Beautiful velvet shawl called dévoré, reissue in the Art Deco style from an unidentified Lyon manufacturer dating from the 1980s. It is in fact a jacquard weave of cut velvet on black muslin, a much more sophisticated technique than the famous dévoré velvet which was obtained by chemical removal. I have this valuable information from Mr. Cédric Brochier, a famous Lyon silk maker. Floral motif decoration with subtle color gradients ranging from absinthe green to pink and burgundy wine lees! Silk cord fringes knotted on all four sides. No defects. Very good condition. Dimensions: 105 cm x 105 cm plus 12 cm of fringes
