Last third of the 19th century India for fashion in Europe Visit shawl in fine turquoise blue wool stamen, densely embroidered with gold Zari in India for the European market. In an orientalist spirit, this visit shows dresses with bustle or crinoline from the 19th century. Two long panels with fringed flaps at the front forming a false hood at the back, which is highlighted by two split peplums at the waist. Row of gold embroidery (Zari) with stylized temple design (?) and matching knotted fringes. An attachment point in front and two gold pompoms added later. No major stains or defects apart from a few tiny repairs in the wool and a small area of stopping, period repair (last photos). The gold embroidery is flashy and flawless. Good general condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: Height at the front 107 cm, width of the front panels 70 cm each. Back height 71 cm.
