Chimney Sweep's Woolen Cloth Town Suit - France First Empire Circa 1805
Circa 1805 France First Empire period City dress, tailcoat and waistcoat in brown chimney sweep wool cloth complete with its chiseled steel buttons from a famous family of the French First Empire. Loose tail coat, high collar, angled sleeves and cuffs with turn-ups, complete with its polished steel buttons with a diamond point effect. Matching waistcoat with ten buttons in the same, cream cotton back. The whole is highlighted with cream silk twill piping, matching the inner lining and crenellated pockets adorned with buttons. From the Montmorency family. Unaltered whole with its lining, and rare scratches on the wool cloth and cream silk piping, note slight oxidation of the steel buttons. No major flaws apart from a natural patina of the materials. Good general condition of color and conservation considering its age. Dimensions: Equivalent to size France 12-14 years. Shoulders 28 cm, sleeves 73 cm, chest 100 cm, waist 98 cm, back height 103 cm.
