Chapan coat in silk Ikat from Uzbekistan dating from the first half of the 20th century. Large dignitary coat in silk Ikat taffeta, an ancestral technique of dyeing the warp threads before weaving, also known in Europe as branch heather or later warp printing. Impressionist decoration in a monochrome of green, pink and red heather prints on a pink and white background. Ikat on silk taffeta is called Shoyi in Uzbekistan. Lightly padded coat with pink and white checked cotton lining, topstitched in vertical bands. The edges of the coat and sleeves are piped with woven cotton braid. No defects, clean, without holes or stains. Very good condition.
Dimensions: Large size. Height 122 cm, chest 136 cm, waist 126 cm, shoulders 50 cm, sleeves 53 cm.
