A simple daytime dress made of basin, dating from the French Directoire or Consulate period. The etymological definition of “basin” is a twill fabric with a warp of yarn and a weft of cotton. Plain basin. Quilted basin. Basin vest. Basin dress.High-waisted long dress in white basin fabric featuring fine stripes and natural elasticity. Bustier with an oval neckline, pleated and cinched at the back with double drawstrings to be tied at the back. Long sleeves gathered at the shoulders and ruffled at the cuffs, ending in mitten-style sleeves. Two beach-style hems at the bottom of the dress. No lining except for a white cotton undershirt integrated into the back. An original, unaltered piece, this dress is very clean and white, having been meticulously cleaned. No flaws to note. In very good condition.
Dimensions: Equivalent to French size 32-33. Length 127 cm, sleeves 65 cm, shoulders 33 cm, bust 82 cm, dress circumference 240 cm.
