A White Muslin Crinoline Walking Dress - France Circa 1845-1855

Circa 1845-1855, France. A beautiful summer promenade dress in white cotton muslin for a round crinoline cage, dating from the late Louis-Philippe period around 1850. Featuring a romantic oval neckline trimmed with cotton swag, the bodice is finely pleated at the waist and has three-quarter-length pagoda sleeves. The dress boasts skillful double ruching at the shoulders and delicate gathered pleats at the sleeves, echoed by two wide flounces on the skirt that amplify the rounded effect. The waist is constructed with flat pleats and fastens with its original hooks at the back. This dress is clean and has no holes or stains. It is an original dress, entirely hand-sewn without any subsequent alterations. It is in very good condition, both in terms of color and preservation.
