Quilt, Slants And Valance In Printed Mulhouse Linen, Circa 1835
Circa 1830-1840, Alsace - Mulhouse. A beautiful printed linen bed set from Mulhouse, comprising a quilt, two Bonne-Grâce headboards, and a valance, dating from the Romantic period. The quilted set features a copper roller print in manganese violet. The pastoral decoration includes a basket of fruit, ears of wheat, and bunches of grapes, punctuated with birds' nests, majestic peacocks, and partridges. The Mulhouse linen is likely from the Dollfus-Mieg & Cie or Koechlin manufactory. The set is clean and flawless, with colors as fresh as they were originally. Exceptional condition.
