An Adrianople Red Indian Printed With Crested Cranes - Alsace Or England Circa 1880
Circa 1870-1900 Alsace or England Large full width of an Adrianople red pimpled Indian loaded with cranes or crested storks and dating from the last third of the 19th century. Calendered twill cotton giving it a chintz finish, printed with a large, exuberant and picotulated polychrome decoration. Note the subtle nuances of color gradient in the plumage of the cranes, possibly from an Alsatian manufacture of the Koechlin, Steiner or English type of Manchester. No defects, in new condition, never used. Dimensions: approximately 400 cm long per complete strip of 76 cm wide.
