Bedding Set: Sheet With Pillowcase—initials "j-b" Embroidered On Linen Thread—late 19th Century

Part of a traditional late 19th-century wedding trousseau, this bedding set consists of a large sheet and a matching pillowcase, both made of high-quality pure linen. 

Thanks to its tight weave, the fabric drapes fluidly, combining delicacy with durability. This set offers the comfort and softness characteristic of exceptional antique linens, entirely hand-embroidered and hand-sewn. The white embroidery, executed with perfect regularity, attests to exceptional craftsmanship: the initials “J-B” are a prime example. Finely executed using sand stitch, cordonnet, and plumetis stitches, they feature an interlaced pattern of daisies and fleurs-de-lis at their center.  As is often the case, these antique pieces made of fine linen have a slightly off-white hue. The bed linens are in excellent condition, washed and ironed.
