Antique Jm-embroidered Bedspread—white Cotton Piqué With Crocheted Lace—circa 1900
A stunning white cotton piqué bedspread (circa 1900), marked "J-M" and beautifully embroidered with small floral motifs scattered throughout. Alternating wide bands of crocheted lace form diamond patterns, which are repeated—as a scalloped border—along the widthwise edges. Because it has been used very little, this piece from a first-half-20th-century trousseau is in excellent condition. It retains its shape very well and features a fabric that is both lightweight and dense. This antique linen has been washed and ironed.
