Brussels Appliqué Lace - Needlework Motifs On A Bobbin Background - Late 19th Century
Brussels Application lace flounce in linen thread (late 19th century), not to be confused with English Application lace. Mixed technique lace whose ground made with bobbins accommodates by insertion and application, motifs also made with bobbins to which are decorated with filling stitch or dimpling made with the needle. Light ecru color noticeably grayed. The head is equipped with its engrailure.
Condition : The length as a whole is in very good condition. Solid material without fragility under tension. Note however a detachment of the engrailure over a few centimeters at the beginning of the cut, as well as a looseness in the network about 30 cm from the beginning of the length.
