White Cotton Petticoat With Small Pleats At The Hem And Crocheted Lace - Early 20th Century

A long, full white petticoat made of fine cotton or percale (circa 1900), entirely hand-sewn, bearing the initials “J-M” embroidered in cordonnet stitch. A small flat ribbon threaded through a drawstring allows for waist adjustment. Crocheted lace and interlacing, alternating with small nail-pleats, add a touch of elegance to the ensemble. A small croquet braid highlights the edge of the lower ruffle.  Note, although very subtle, the trace of a pleat that appears to have been unstitched. The petticoat is in excellent condition, washed and ironed.
