Istanbul rug designs draw their inspiration from traditional Turkish and Persian curvilinear patterns.
Traditionally, they feature detailed depictions of flowers, birds, mihrabs (prayer niches), and the tree of life. The color palette used in the creation of these rugs is very wide and harmonious: there are shades of ivory, dark blue, red, yellow and green. This carpet is in good condition, however showing very slight wear on the prayer niche, slight discoloration on the edge.
