Magnificent round table in the Boulle style, crafted in ebonized wood with gilt bronze mounts and an exceptionally rich inlaid top with polychrome marbles. The circular tabletop is elaborately decorated with floral and foliate motifs arranged in radiating symmetry around a central medallion, in the manner of pietra dura. The turned central shaft rests on three scrolled legs, all adorned with finely chiseled gilt bronze appliqués, including garlands, bows, masks, and cartouches. The dramatic contrast between the polished black wood and the brilliance of the gilding gives this piece a noble, theatrical elegance, typical of the Napoleon III aesthetic.
