Soup Tureen With Lid And Tray, Made Of Polychrome And Gold Porcelain, Germany, Late 19th Century
An elegant soup tureen complete with its original tray, crafted from fine German porcelain, likely in Saxony or Thuringia, between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is finely hand-decorated with romantic views of castles, fortified cities, and river landscapes framed within elegant medallions, embellished with a rich ornamental scheme in pure gold and cobalt blue. The lid is topped by an elegant knob shaped like a fruit with naturalistic leaves, while the side handles and curving feet evoke the Rococo Revival style. The base bears a mark featuring crossed swords and the letter “M,” attributable to a German manufacturer of the period. An example of exceptional artistic and decorative quality, entirely hand-painted and preserved in excellent condition. Dimensions: soup tureen length 36 cm; tray 46 × 30 cm.
