Pair Of French Vases In Oxblood Porcelain And Gilded Bronze

An important pair of majestic French vases made of ox-blood-glazed porcelain, embellished with a sumptuous frame of finely chiseled and gilded bronze, dating to the mid-19th century, the Napoleonic III period.
The bodies, with their elegant baluster shape, feature a deep glaze in shades of oxblood red, characterized by striking gradations that range from ruby red to the deepest purple, particularly evident near the neck and rim.
The rich gilded bronze mount is of remarkable craftsmanship: the upper rim is adorned with a succession of acanthus leaves, from which two tall, shaped, and chiseled handles extend, connected to the body by elegant plant motifs. The vases are topped with domed lids in gilded bronze, crowned with pine-cone-shaped handles set on acanthus leaves.
The bases, also in gilded bronze, feature an architecturally articulated design and are decorated with fluted and plant motifs, giving the pair a particularly majestic and imposing appearance.
Given their remarkable size, the quality of the porcelain, and the richness of the mountings, this pair constitutes a refined example of high-end French decorative production from the Napoleon III period.
