Roman Green Glass Vase With An Ovoid Body And Gadroons – 4th–5th Century, Archaeology
An elegant green blown-glass vase dating from Late Antiquity, circa the 4th–5th centuries A.D.
It features an ovoid body adorned with a subtle gadroons pattern, topped by a pinched and flared rim. Its distinctive silhouette and harmonious proportions make it a fine example of ancient Roman glassware, a type that remains relatively uncommon.
The piece comes from a former Parisian collection assembled between the 1960s and 1980s. This glassware was appraised by Cabinet Florian Bourguet Expertises in Paris.
Condition: the rim has been completely reattached. The body also has a crack. It is possible that the rim was taken from another glass vessel, though this hypothesis cannot be confirmed with certainty.
Dimensions: height: 9.6 cm.
