Pair Of 19th-century Alabastro A Pecorella Marble Lamps With Gilded Bronze Mounts
An elegant and
beautiful pair of 19th-century alabastro a pecorella
urns, now converted to table lamps, of elegant classical proportions and
sumptuous colour.
Richly
figured with the most fabulous colours, the polished stone is complemented by
lustrous gilt-metal mounts in the Louis XVI taste. Scrolled handles, laurel
swags and ribbon-tied wreaths adorn the ovoid bodies, while acanthus-leaf
cradles lead to spreading socles and square plinths raised on delicate gilt
feet. Domed covers with beaded gilt borders complete the composition.
Combining
the splendour of richly veined stone with the refinement of classical ornament,
these lamps would bring distinction to a drawing room, library or entrance hall.Height without the electrical fixture: 42.5 cm, 16.7 inches
