This superb hardstone top is attributed to Francesco Sibilio, a prominent Roman marble mason and merchant, active during the pontificate of Pius VII. His collection of rare semi-precious stones, hardstones, granites, and marbles was renowned throughout ancient Rome. He was considered a master in this field.
