19th Century Specimen Sicilian Jasper And Hard Stone Marble Game Board

A fine specimen of a 19th-century Sicilian jasper and hardstone gaming table top from Chios o Portasanta marble, firmly attributed to Francesco Sibilio. This superb hardstone top is attributed to Francesco Sibilio, a prominent Roman marble mason and merchant, active during the pontificate of Pius VII. His collection of rare semi-precious stones, hardstones, granites, and marbles was renowned throughout ancient Rome. He was considered a master in this field. The Sicilian stones composing this magnificent piece are among the finest you will ever see.
