Silver-plated brass candlestick from the lateLouis XVI period.
Circular base adorned with a doublefrieze of water leaves
& a row of pearls; thecentral shaft, in a fluted baluster shape
topped by a collar of water leaves,supports
a flared bowl decorated with laurel leavesthat follow the fluting.
The bowl is simply adorned with a fine rowof pearls.
Assembled as a lamp with an extension featuring afaux cardboard candle.
Shows signs of age and wear, traces of tarnish;the candlestick has been cleaned and varnished.
Electrical wiring completely redone.
Empire-style lampshade in mouse-gray cottonembellished with Toile de Jouy appliqués in the pureLouis XVI style; a chocolate-brown soutache trim highlights the edges ofthe lampshade.
