Elegant antique candle snuffer, dating from the late 17th century, crafted from chiseled and gilded bronze.

Conical in shape, this snuffer features a rich decoration entirely executed in chisel work, composed of floral motifs, acanthus leaves, and petaled flowers, set against a background dotted with small points. The delicacy of the decoration, the rendering of the foliage, and the chasing technique strongly suggest Italian craftsmanship, in the style of decorative bronze objects from the late Grand Siècle.

The piece is fitted with an elegant side handle, which allows for easy handling and lends it a particularly refined silhouette.

The original gilding is still present despite some minor wear and now displays a beautiful antique patina. The chiseling, meanwhile, is remarkably well-preserved, with no significant wear to the decoration. The snuffer is complete and remains in very good overall condition, given its age.

A small, particularly decorative household item, whose quality of craftsmanship and refined decoration attest to the care taken with such objects in the late 17th century.
