Set of two Musha Ningyô dolls depicting a samurai and his squire, made of wood, silk, papier-mâché, hair, straw, metal, and feathers. The seated samurai is equipped with a gunbai fan, a wakizashi, a bow, and a quiver containing five arrows. The squire, kneeling and wearing a jingasa, carries a shashimono banner.
Slight wear and minor chips.

Notes : Musha Ningyō (武者人形), or “warrior dolls,” are traditional Japanese figures depicting heroes, samurai, and legendary characters from history and mythology.
They are particularly associated with Boys’ Day, now celebrated on May 5. Displayed in homes, often clad in richly detailed armor, they embody the warrior virtues of the samurai and serve a protective function.
