Monstrance - Reliquary “ex Ossibus” Of St. Jucundis M., Gilded Bronze, 19th-century France
A gilded bronze monstrance and reliquary in the Neo-Gothic style, resting on a poly-lobed base adorned with stylized plant motifs. The central section, designed as a small Gothic structure with pinnacles and lancet windows, frames a cylindrical glass tube containing a relic “Ex ossibus S. Jucundis M.,” that is, a bone fragment of Saint Jucundus, martyr, and a small pouch containing minute bone fragments (ex ossibus) in the background.
The piece is crowned by a tall, architecturally designed spire topped with a cross.
