The Virgin holds the Infant Jesus in her left arm. He holds a globe in his hand, a symbol of his sovereignty over the world. Mary is dressed in a long gown covered by a loose-fitting cloak with deep, angular folds, further evidence of the influence of late Gothic sculpture.

Beautiful antique brown patina that highlights the grain of the walnut.

Condition: signs of use, cracks, wear, traces of old wood-boring insects, and restorations, particularly on the Virgin’s right arm. The patina and finish were likely reworked at a later date. The piece remains structurally sound and particularly decorative.
