A Fully Original Sideboard Of Small Proportions Dutch Louis XVI Period, Circa 1790–1800
A fully original late 18th C. sideboard of lovely small proportions, made during the Dutch Louis XVI-period circa 1790-1800.It's constructed from solid Oak veneered with beautiful figured Satinwood and details of Purpleheart, African Padauk, Brazilian Tulipwood & Sycamore. Enriched with various refined inlaid bandings and marquetry of fiolage scrolls, ribbons & swags detailed with so called penwork. As it has never been sanded the veneer still retains it's handcut thickness and only has one small patch!Beside the stunning woodwork it's decorated with entirely black lacquered panels and ones depicting Shishi (lion dogs), flowers & plants. It comes with detailed gilded brass mounts and enamel backplates on the pulls of the dovetailed drawer. These are made in Battersea depicting landscapes, rivers, fishermen and parts of villages. They are not very common and mainly executed in black & white, coming across coloured ones is highly unusual! This piece also has it's original brass hinges, doorcatches and iron locks with there keys. It comes with beautiful rich warm contrasting colours and a lovely silk sheen!Being in a perfect and from to bottom in fully original condition after more than 200+ years this piece can be seen as a rare true survivor!!!
