Small Faenza Majolica Cup, 15th Century
An elegant small majolica cup made in Faenza in the 15th century, decorated in monochrome cobalt blue with a refined floral and plant motif arranged concentrically. The decoration, typical of late-medieval Faenza production, is distinguished by its ornamental balance and the quality of the painting.
The cup features a wide decorative band on the rim and a richly ornamented central medallion. Signs of age, including some chips and restorations along the rim, are consistent with the piece’s age and attest to its historical authenticity.
An interesting example of Renaissance majolica from the early Faenza workshops, highly prized by collectors of antique Italian ceramics.
