These tiles were the first cast earthenware floor tilesmanufactured in Flanders (Belgium). They were smaller than later tiles. A comparable original floor from the 14th century, featuring the sametiles, can still be seen in the former church of Wenduine (Belgium). Somespecimens were also discovered during excavations at the Ter Dunes Abbeyin Koksijde.
