13th Century Saint, Poupée De Châsse, Limoges
A magnificent poupee de chasse with a dark, almost
black patina, with some traces of enamel. The face with a serene expression is the most beautiful we have seen so far. Formerly made in reliquary caskets
(see picture4), these appliques in the shape of doll-like figures were known in
France as poupées.
