Rare Ligurian Majolica Apothecary Jar, Savona, Late 16th–early 17th Century

A rare cylindrical majolica pharmacy jar, made in Savona between the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The decoration, executed in monochrome blue on a white background with vertical bands, is typical of Savona’s production during that period. The central cartouche bears the abbreviated inscription “VNG. ROSAT.,” referring to Unguentum Rosatum, while the presence of the Lanterna di Genova mark—a symbol used by some Ligurian manufacturers—confirms its place of origin.
