Large Terracotta Bust Of A Young Woman
A significant terracotta bust of a young woman, created by the sculptor Félix Richard, signed and dated 1880 on the reverse.
The subject is depicted in bust form, her head turned slightly, in a pose that is both elegant and natural. Her face, with its fine, delicately modeled features, is framed by an elaborately styled updo composed of soft strands and curls.
The young woman is dressed in a loose drape tied at the chest. The generous rendering of the fabrics, with their numerous folds and movements, contrasts with the soft modeling of the face and neck and gives the piece a beautiful sculptural presence.
