A beautiful Baroque-style wall console made of carved and gilded wood, supported by an imposing cherub figure in the round, its arms raised to support a scalloped top. The posture of the cherub, serving as an Atlantean figure, is characteristic of Baroque decorative vocabulary: specifically in 17th- and 18th-century religious furniture, angels and cherubs are often used as supporting figures, particularly in altarpieces. French heritage collections document several comparable examples in carved and gilded wood.

Given its design and monumental character, this console table may have been a former element of church decor or an altarpiece, later repurposed as a wall console. However, this origin remains to be confirmed in the absence of documented provenance. Beautiful antique gilding showing wear, imperfections, and traces of previous restorations; a few missing pieces are visible, particularly on one leg. The piece as a whole retains a very beautiful presence and an authentic patina.
