Mahogany-veneered Console Table, Empire Style – First Half Of The 20th Century
A superb Empire-style console table in mahogany veneer. This refined piece features a lift-up top that reveals an elegant, perfectly fitted compartment for discreet storage. The apron is adorned with finely chiseled bronze trim, including delicate palmette motifs that emphasize the decorative precision characteristic of the Empire style. The functional lock is accompanied by an ornate bronze key that adds the finishing touch to the elegance of this decorative piece.
The piece rests on an X-shaped, curule-style base made entirely of gilded brass. The legs, shaped like intersecting cornucopias, lend the silhouette a sculptural presence and an almost architectural dynamism, while a central crossbar ensures stability and enriches the composition. A harmonious blend of fine materials and imperial lines, this coffee table embodies the refinement and distinction of the Empire style.
