Mahogany-veneered Tea Table, Louis XV Style – Early 20th Century
This Louis XV-style tea table captivates with the grace of its curved legs, adorned with gilded bronze finials featuring garlands of fruit, ribbons, and leafy scrolls—motifs emblematic of 18th-century ornamental design. The eye is then drawn to the warm softness of the mahogany veneer, whose deep hue highlights the piece’s oval silhouette. The top shelf, delicately framed by a molding, is finished in dark pink marble veined with white, whose luminous hues lend a precious and refined touch. Below, a second, larger top—also edged with a mold—offers an elegant additional surface and is distinguished by its two side handles, which underscore the convivial nature of this small living room piece. The butterfly-wing-patterned veneer shifts in tone depending on the light. The piece, with its subtle balance between decorative richness and delicate lines, perfectly embodies the graceful and refined spirit of the Louis XV style.
