"Ceramic And Gilt Bronze Vase, Manufacture Boch Frères Keramis - Late 19th Century"
Ceramic vase produced in Belgium by the Boch Frères Keramis earthenware factory at the end of the 19th century. Founded in 1841 by Eugène and Victor Boch, the Keramis factory, the flagship of Belgian industry, is known for its large productions and its collaborations with the art workshops of department stores. This vase with an ovoid body, narrowing and slightly concave at the bottom, presents decorations in relief of flowers and foliage, in polychrome enamels on a Sèvres blue ground. The neck and the mouth are covered with a gilt bronze strapping, openwork and chiseled, with fleur-de-lys motifs. Its seat, also in bronze, is decorated with scrolls, acanthus leaves and devil's heads on each foot. This vase, marked BFK 158 under the bottom, will attract attention through the depth and contrast of its colours. ******** Period: Late 19th century Excellent condition.
