"Mahogany Sideboard, Napoleon III Period – 2nd Part Of The 19th Century"
A Napoleon III period solid mahogany and mahogany veneer sideboard, richly ornamented with bronze fittings, adorned with a painted porcelain medallion on the front and crowned with Carrara marble. The apron is highlighted with delicate ingot molds finely engraved with floral motifs, and embellished with a high frieze in sculpted bronze decorated with scrolls. The canted uprights are embellished with beautiful falls representing large cherubs carrying a basket of fruit. The single door, equipped with a functional lock with finely crafted entry and key, opens onto an interior fitted with two shelves. The mahogany veneer, arranged in the shape of a butterfly's wings, houses in its center an oval medallion in painted porcelain representing a bouquet of polychrome flowers on a white background, framed by a floral crown on a turquoise blue background and enhanced with a bronze garland. The whole is magnificently framed with bronze rods. The lower part, slightly stepped, also with canted sides, is topped with an ingot mold with sculpted flowers, while the lower crosspiece, with its eventful shape, is enriched with a large scroll decoration. The sides of the piece are not left out: each is adorned with a large bronze trim depicting scrolls and floral compositions. Finally, the Carrara marble with also canted sides follows the lines of this exceptional piece of furniture which embodies all the finesse and opulence of the Napoleon III style.**********Period: Napoleon III, mid-19th centuryCertificate of authenticity provided.Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop.
