Theodolite By Ludwig Tesdorpf. Stuttgart, Late 19th Century.
Artist: Tesdorpf
Theodolite by Ludwig Tesdorpf. Stuttgart, late 19th century.
An excellent-quality theodolite made in Ludwig Tesdorpf’s famous workshop in Stuttgart around 1880–90. It is exceptionally complete, which is very rare; it has retained its side lenses and their delicate covers. A thick layer of dust has preserved it very well. It bears the mark: “L TESDORPF STUTTGART No. 1389.” It is mounted on a small board that was likely the bottom of its original case. Height of the theodolite alone: 317 mm. Total height: 352 mm. Tesdorpf’s workshop was one of the finest in Europe.
