Description:
A gilded bronze figure cast in solid bronze, depicting Christ crucified in a composition inspired by the models of Jean de Bologne (Giambologna). The body, with its slender proportions and powerful modeling, is animated by a slight sway of the hips characteristic of Mannerism. The head is tilted toward the right shoulder, the arms are spread wide, and the short perizonium is tied at the hip.
This sculpture, cast in high-quality bronze, features an original gilding that is partially worn, revealing a deep, particularly attractive patina. The feet are superimposed, in accordance with late Renaissance iconography.
Condition:
Signs of wear on the gilding and small visible chips, consistent with the age of the work.
