Turkmen Yomud Saddle Rug. Circa 1900. 120 X 75 Cm
Stunning Turkmen Yomud saddle rug.
Woven and knotted with wool over wool.
The pile is rather short, which is always the case with this type of rug.
The dyes are exclusively plant-based, with a beautiful depth of field featuring five series of six Gül motifs.
The wool is of remarkable quality.
On the reverse side of the piece, one can observe and appreciate the extreme regularity of the knotted weave. This is great art.
The piece is in perfect, flawless condition.
At one end, you can see the system of rings that were used to secure the rug to the horse.
A beautiful collector’s piece, perhaps ideal as a bedside rug, for an entryway, or any other use.
Circa 1900–1920
