French Second Empire Firefighter Officer Helmet, Napoleonic III Era

Spectacular Model 1821 fire officer's helmet from the Second Empire period (1852–1870), featuring an imposing plaque with the imperial eagle and the inscription "Srs. (Sapeurs) POMPIERS DE ROSNAY DEVOUEMENT." (Rosnay Firefighters' dedication)
It is topped by a large, original red horsehair plume ("chenille"), identifying a brass band officer.
A rare find, it is complete with its original leather and canvas lining. The visor and neck guard have also retained their period leather lining.
Tall brass crest decorated with gadroons, foliage, and a flaming grenade.
The visor and neck guard are richly adorned with foliage and firefighter’s axes.
Brass chin straps embossed with scales and mounted on leather. They are attached to the helmet by round "rosettes" and fasten at the front with a fabric cord.
It  also boosts a beautiful two-tone red/black horsehair plume with a finely crafted brass olive at its base.
A definite collector’s item. Entirely orginal and untouched. Afew small, barely visible dents.
