Two-register icon depicting at the top the Holy Face of Christ surrounded by Saint John the Baptist and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, surmounting an assembly of saints.

This beautiful icon dates from the 17th century -- around 1650 -- and comes from the Volga region of Russia.

In Byzantine style, it is painted on a wooden panel in tempera (paint based on egg yolk and natural pigments). The chromatic range is rich and warm.

Good general condition with a beautiful patina. Some losses, cracks and wear of time consistent with the age of the work.
