Beautiful Russian icon of St. Nicholas, known as the "Miracle Worker", dating from the second half of the 18th century.
St. Nicholas, dressed as a bishop, is depicted in bust form, blessing with his right hand and holding the Bible with the other. In the upper corners of the composition are Christ and Mary.
This painting is delicately executed in tempera (egg yolk-based paint) in rich, warm tones with a dominance of red and green.
Very good overall condition with a superb patina. It is sold with its certificate of authenticity and a full description.
