Oil on canvas signed "Chochon" lower right, by André-Eugène-Louis Chochon (1910-2005). The work depicts the portrait of a young woman crowned with flowers, a white feather boa around her shoulders, holding a flower to her lips, set against a deep blue ground. A poetic, refined composition with the artist's characteristic smooth, rounded touch, in the spirit of the female portraits of the School of Paris of the 1950s-60s.

André Chochon (Rennes, 1910 – 2005) was a French painter, lithographer and engraver, a pupil of Lucien Simon and Jules Ronsin. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1933, won the Second Grand Prix de Rome in 1938 and stayed at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid (1946-1947). Remaining faithful to figurative painting, he is recorded in Bénézit, the BnF, the Centre Pompidou and the Museum of Fine Arts of Rennes.
