Oil on canvas depicting a rustic mill set beside a mountain torrent, surrounded by rocks and dominated by a waterfall, within an alpine landscape where snow-capped peaks appear in the distance beneath a cloud-laden sky. The construction in successive planes, from the rocky foreground to the mountainous distance, and the contrasted treatment of light, belong to the tradition of alpine landscape painting as practised by numerous painters of the second half of the nineteenth century, in the wake of Charles-Euphrasie Kuwasseg, a specialist in alpine villages and landscapes within the Barbizon movement.

The canvas is in good condition.

Öl auf Leinwand, eine rustikale Mühle an einem Gebirgsbach darstellend, umgeben von Felsen und überragt von einem Wasserfall, in einer alpinen Landschaft, in der sich in der Ferne schneebedeckte Gipfel unter einem wolkenverhangenen Himmel abzeichnen. Der in aufeinanderfolgenden Ebenen aufgebaute Bildraum, vom felsigen Vordergrund bis zur gebirgigen Ferne, sowie die kontrastreiche Lichtbehandlung gehören zur Tradition der alpinen Landschaftsmalerei, wie sie von zahlreichen Malern der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts gepflegt wurde, in der Nachfolge von Charles-Euphrasie Kuwasseg, einem Spezialisten für alpine Dörfer und Landschaften in der Bewegung von Barbizon.

Die Leinwand befindet sich in gutem Erhaltungszustand.

Olio su tela raffigurante un mulino rustico posto accanto a un torrente di montagna, circondato da rocce e dominato da una cascata, in un paesaggio alpino dove si stagliano in lontananza vette innevate sotto un cielo carico di nuvole. La costruzione per piani successivi, dal primo piano roccioso fino alle lontananze montuose, e il trattamento contrastato della luce appartengono alla tradizione del paesaggio alpino praticata da numerosi pittori della seconda metà dell'Ottocento, sulla scia di Charles-Euphrasie Kuwasseg, specialista di villaggi e paesaggi alpini nel solco della scuola di Barbizon.

La tela è in buono stato di conservazione.
