Pair of solid silver salt cellars with cobalt blue glass lids, a beautiful Empire-style tripod design, with the legs adorned with large palmette motifs. Early 19th century, circa 1810.
Each salt celler bears the “2nd rooster, 1st fineness” hallmark in use between 1809 and 1819, a silversmith’s hallmark, the hallmark of the Silversmiths’ Association, and the Paris medium-guarantee hallmark. They were re-hallmarked with the Minerva mark after 1838.
They are accompanied by salt spoons of a design and size that are perfectly suited to them. The spoons bear the wild boar’s head hallmark, a silversmith’s hallmark.
