Fancy carafe or bottle made of blue overlay Baccarat crystal, dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880–1900. "Overlay crystal"refers to a multilayered crystal, in which white crystal is covered with a thin layer of colored crystal that, once cut, reveals the white beneath through translucency. A luxury piece custom-made for its owner with an RV monogram.
A beautiful, tall-stemmed design. An early piece (pre-1936) that does not bear the Baccarat signature, but the model is listed in the 1916 tableware catalog under number S84
It is in excellent condition (slight haze on the bottom, invisible once the decanter is filled).
