Pair of Empire lounge chairs in mahogany and mahogany veneer,with straight, slightly curved backs, palmette and scrolled armrests and baluster legs. Ourarmchair is richly upholstered in yellow-gold and white silk with a placed rosette and star motif (Lelièvre). LateEmpire period, early 19th century, circa 1810. Stamped by Jacob Desmalter et Cie JACOB. D. R. MESLEE, used between 1803 and 1813. Each seatbears an illegible handwritten château label.

The Jacob dynasty is probably France's most prestigiouscabinetmakers of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, with immense century, with great success as suppliers to theGarde-Meuble Impérial (as well as that of the Crown before and after theEmpire). Beautiful model, the proportions are generous, the armchair is comfortable due to its curved backrest. We are selling a suite with a matching pair of chairs, as well as a third armchair and a third chair on request to make up a more complete set of salon furniture (see overall photos).

Very good overall condition, armchair relined and upholstered to new in this beautiful luminous silk 10years ago. The fabric is in very good home condition, no stains, a few light traces of use. The old varnish on the mahogany has been cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker.
