Oil And Vinegar Cruet Mount, Silver Circa 1800, Coq Hallmark
Cast, openwork and chiseled silver cruet mount / stand. The mount adapts an ancient Roman boat shape decorated with lion heads and resting on lion paws. The structure represents an arcature decoration embellished with friezes of palmettes, ropes, waves and 1st Empire bases. The six-lobed column-shaped handle is topped with a pine cone. Two stoppers for the cruets are attached to the column using andirons. French work from the early 19th century, Empire period. 950/1000 silver, hallmarks Coq 1798-1809, Paris Master Goldsmith Hallmark: Masson Nicolas-Richard Length: 30 cm Width: 12 cm Height: 26.5 cm Weight: 906 g Good condition, small dents on the column.
