Silver chocolate pot, 18th century, Paris circa 1779. Silver chocolate pot resting on a tripod base in the shape of a shield, fitted with a gadrooned spout with a flap, a turned wooden side handle, and a scrolled thumb rest. Hammered finish. The body is engraved with a coat of arms beneath a count's coronet. Hallmark: Paris, 1775–1781. Date letter: 1779, Guild of Goldsmiths of Amiens (Somme). Maker's mark: Delapierre François, hallmark listed on p. 50 in Henry Nocq's Poinçons de Paris, 1968 edition. Height: 24.5 cm. Max. diameter. Length: 12 cm Weight: 725 g (without handle) Attachment: a turned wooden whisk Good condition: a trace of restoration at the bottom of the body, no dents or dings, no wobbling on the feet. Signs of use and some minor losses to the wood of the handle.
