A gorgeous little portable sewing kit made of vermeil and enamel.

It consists of a rectangular box entirely guilloché with fine parallel lines dotted with points and scales.

The hinged lid is enameled in a beautiful translucent pale green with a thin border of opaque white enamel.

The vermeil interior features two compartments, one of which contains a holder for sewing thread. A small hook in the lid holds a pack of eye needles.

An eyelet allowed this sewing kit to be attached to a chatelaine or, in a very modern way, worn as a long necklace.
