Veyrat: Solid Silver And Vermeil Snow Shovel, Decorated With A Chimera-dragon Motif. Late 19th Century
An exceptional strawberry scoop made of solid silver and vermeil.
The extensively openwork spatula is shaped like a chimera coiling around itself.
The handle is decorated with acanthus leaves and rocaille motifs that extend to the bowl.
The bowl is made of vermeil and features a white silver design of reeds and openwork acanthus leaf scrolls.
The spoon is hallmarked:
. A wild boar’s head for solid silver with a minimum fineness of 800/°° since 1838
. Goldsmith’s hallmark “GV” with a stemmed glass for Gustave Veyrat, active from 1894 to 1911
Magnificent shovel with spectacular, highly openwork, decorative chimera design.
